Collection Galleries blurb

The year 2025 marks 25 years since the opening of QUT Art Museum, and 80 years since the founding of the QUT Art Collection. Comprising more than 3000 objects, the collection includes painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics and digital media, largely by modern and contemporary Australian artists. There are more than 300 artworks on display across the QUT campuses here at Gardens Point and at Kelvin Grove. Many of these can be viewed by the general public including in the adjacent Gardens Point library.

The QUT Art Collection is a vital component of both Queensland’s and Australia’s cultural heritage. It contributes significantly to the broader narrative of Australian art, reflecting the diversity of our society and capturing historical, aesthetic, and social currents. Beyond its artistic significance, the collection serves as a dynamic resource for lifelong learning. It underscores the essential role of culture in shaping identity, fostering intellectual growth and enhancing personal wellbeing.

We invite you into the collection galleries to explore and reflect. It’s a place where everyone is welcome to play, dwell and ponder, offering opportunities for learning and discovery through engagement with artworks.
