Learn the art of the ekphrastic poem! Art and poetry combine in this creative writing workshop with the QUT Literary Salon in conjunction with the exhibition miffy & friends at QUT Art Museum. The Lit Salon will guide you in the art of writing and presenting your own ekphrastic poem, which is a piece of poetry that vividly describes or responds to an artwork. Draw on the playful and minimal original illustrations of miffy and her friends by illustrator and writer Dick Bruna, or the work of contemporary Australian artists who are inspired or influenced by Bruna’s distinctive style.
Suitable for ages from 16 years +. This program is part of QUT O Week.
About the QUT Literary Salon
The QUT Literary Salon is a monthly student-run event that gives creative writing students the opportunity to read their work aloud to an audience. Sharing work, collaborating, and networking can be daunting tasks for writers. The Lit Salon gives students the opportunity to experience this under as little pressure as possible with a focus on bringing the university's up-and-coming writers into the local writing spotlight.
