Writing Mona Ryder
Join us for the launch of Writing Mona Ryder, a collection of critical essays that explore Queensland artist Mona Ryder’s forty plus years of creative practice. QUT Art Museum will host the artist, writers, and artist and journalist Bec Mac in a Q&A session about the genesis and development of the project.
Known for her exploration of themes such as domesticity, social and political structures and memory, this unique project offers six different perspectives on Ryder’s multimedia practice. The female contemporary writers commissioned for the project are all of different ages, and at different stages in their own careers, and so are able to approach the artist’s work through a number of varied lenses. Writers include: Beth Jackson, Christine Morrow, Ann-Maree Reaney, Dr Victoria Garnons-Williams, Dr Frances Thomson and Victoria Boulter-Groening.
Writing Mona Ryder is made possible through a grant from Brisbane City Council’s Creative Sparks Program. The Creative Sparks Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council to support local arts and culture in Brisbane.
